On 26.04.2019 the in-house recording of the Jazzschmiede Düsseldorf went unnoticed. None of the musicians had really realized this. When Christian von Kaphengst, the producer and bassist, curiously listened to the recording, the first hurdle was cleared. Von Kaphengst encouraged the others to listen. Label boss Rüdiger Herzog was also immediately on fire. Timid and hesitant, Jeff Cascaro also approached the recordings, but then the enthusiasm was great. This to such an extent that now almost the complete concert is released, with the playing time of 76 minutes.
In fact, you can feel that the musicians primarily play for the audience and don't think of a recording. So the music lives in the here and now, has punch, breathes space and - unlike the studio recordings - is controlled much more looser from the moment.
The recorded concert evening in the crowded Jazzschmiede Düsseldorf was brilliant and you have to thank Lars Wallat from the club team for his live recording, because he puts Jeff Cascaro adequately in scene. The listeners thank him with spontaneous applause and drive the musicians to unexpected heights. There is always a wonderful tension and curiosity in the air.

Am 26.04.2019 lief unbemerkt der hauseigene Mitschnitt der Jazzschmiede Düsseldorf. Keiner der Musiker hatte dies wirklich realisiert. Beim neugierigen Gegenhören der Aufnahme durch Christian von Kaphengst, dem Produzent und Bassist, war die erste Hürde genommen. Von Kaphengst ermunterte die anderen zum Hören. Labelchef Rüdiger Herzog war gleichfalls umgehend Feuer und Flamme. Zaghaft und zögernd hat sich auch Jeff Cascaro den Mitschnitten angenähert, dann jedoch war die Begeisterung groß. Dies in solch einem Umfang, dass nun fast das komplette Konzert veröffentlicht wird, mit der üppigen Spielzeit von 76 Minuten.
In der Tat spürt man, dass die Musiker primär für das Publikum spielen und nicht an eine Aufnahme denken. So lebt die Musik im Hier und Jetzt, hat Punch, atmet Raum und wird – anders als bei den Studio Aufnahmen – weit lockerer aus dem Moment heraus gesteuert.
Der aufgezeichnete Konzertabend in der überfüllten Jazzschmiede Düsseldorf war brillant und man muss Lars Wallat aus dem Club-Team für seinen Live-Mitschnitt danken, denn dieser setzt Jeff Cascaro adäquat in Szene. Die Zuhörer danken es mit spontanem Beifall und treiben die Musiker zu ungeahnten Höhenflügen. Es liegt durchweg eine wunderbare Spannung und Neugierde in der Luft.
